Ballyglasheen who won over course and distance on his last run 15 days ago can put his experience to good used again this afternoon under similar conditions. The 3 year chestnut gelding is obviously settling into his new surrounding at the Evan Williams yard and should go well again today albeit under top weight.
Ballyglasheen who was formally trained in Ireland by John Halley is making the eighth start of his career today. He ran three times on the flat in Ireland finishing in the places in 2 of his three starts before being switched to hurdles. He ran three times over hurdles for his former trainer and finished 2nd on two occasions.
He made his debut for Evan Williams over course and distance just over two weeks ago in the same Good ground he runs in today and showed some really good qualities for his future over the smaller obstacles. Although he took a slight lead 3 flights from the finish he was headed after being ridden at the 2nd to last flight before putting in a sustained effort on the flat to get up close home by ½ a length. Not only did he show a very willing attitude to get back in front once headed, but he also put in a very neat round of jumping.
He is ridden again this afternoon by stable jockey Paul Moloney who rode him to win on his first start for the yard. Paul has ridden 18 winners so far this season and has a 20% winning strike rate riding at Ludlow.
Ballyglasheen looks to have Hanga Roa and Agaophonos to beat today. the first named horse looks to be slightly more exposed that Ballyglasheen and Aglaophonos is making his hurdling debut and may well need the experience. After such a taking run last time Ballyglasheen is taken to extend his winning run today.
